Frequently asked questions

Is there an official Google News API?

No. Google retired its News Search API years ago. This tool reads the public Google News results for your query and returns them as structured data.

Do I get the full article text?

No, you get the listing: title, link, source, time and snippet. Fetch the publisher's page yourself if you need full text and have the right to use it.

Why do links start with news.google.com?

Google News links redirect to the publisher. Follow the redirect (any HTTP client does this) to get the final URL.

How is this priced versus search-count APIs?

We count articles; some SERP APIs count searches. If you want many articles per query, a per-search API can be cheaper; if you want a few articles across many queries, per-article is usually cheaper. See our SerpApi comparison.

How fresh are results?

As fresh as Google News at the moment of the request. Nothing is cached on the API.
