What people use it for

Track a brand or competitor

Search a name, filter to the past day, and grab the RSS URL to get new coverage in your feed reader or a Slack channel.

Research a topic

Use quoted phrases and site: to find coverage from one publisher, with exact dates.

Prototype a news pipeline

Check what a query returns before you wire it into code, then move to the API for volume.

Structured news for code and monitoring

This page shows the newest 15 matches for one search. To monitor many keywords, filter by language and region, or load results into a database, the same data is one API call away, returned as JSON and billed per article returned.

Frequently asked questions

Is this Google News search free?

Yes. No account and no card. Free searches are shared with our other free tools (15 per network per day, plus a fixed daily total for everyone), and identical searches are cached for 15 minutes.

Where do the results come from?

From Google News's public RSS search feed, the same one a feed reader would subscribe to. You get headline, publisher, publish time and a link. Links open through Google News, which forwards you to the publisher.

How do I get a Google News RSS feed for a keyword?

Run your search and copy the feed URL shown under the results. Paste it into any feed reader, Slack's RSS app or a script. It is Google's own feed URL, so it keeps working without us.

What do the time filters do?

They add Google's when: operator to the query (past hour, day, week, month or year). You can also use other operators in the search box, such as site:reuters.com or quoted phrases.

Why are there at most 15 results?

This page shows the 15 newest matches. For larger pulls, monitoring and deduplication, use the API.

Can I monitor a topic automatically or pull results into code?

Yes, with the Google News API: one call returns structured articles for a keyword, region and language, and you pay only for results returned. See the plans.

Is this affiliated with Google?

No. Google News is a Google trademark. This tool reads the public RSS feed and links back to it; it does not store or republish articles.
